On February 26, 2008, the CASEnergy Coalition got together with the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI), research and education institute, to organize a debate in Washington, DC titled, “Is Atomic Energy A Cure for Climate Change?” Environmentalists who fall on both sides of the question, including CASEnergy co-chair Patrick Moore, got together to discuss nuclear energy and its role in the future of our country.
PPI wrote, “Nuclear energy has been vilified by many environmentalists for decades. But as the ill effects of oil consumption begin to outpace the development of clean, efficient alternatives, many former stalwart opponents of nuclear plants have become the power sources' unlikely champions. A recent PPI forum featured environmentalists debating environmentalists on the benefits of nuclear power versus the risks involved in generating it.”
